Grade 6–9 ICT Classes
Build a strong ICT foundation through practical learning, creative activities and modern computer technology designed for young learners.
Sands Information & Communication Technology Academy
Practical ICT education that goes beyond the classroom, helping students develop real digital skills, creativity and confidence for the future.
About SICTA
Sands Information and Communication Technology Academy is an ICT education centre based in Divulapitiya, built around a simple belief: technology is best learned by using it. Since opening its doors in February 2021, SICTA has grown into a practical learning space where students sit at real computers, work through real problems and build real digital skills, rather than only memorising theory for an exam.
The academy was founded by Sameera Dasanayake, who has been teaching ICT since 2018. That experience shapes how every class is run today — with a strong focus on hands-on practice alongside the theory that students need for school and national examinations. Lessons make full use of the institute's computer laboratory and internet facilities, giving students the chance to explore, experiment and apply what they learn in the moment, guided by a teacher who is present at every step.
SICTA welcomes students from Grade 6 through to school leavers and adults exploring new digital skills, all within a classroom environment designed to be modern, friendly and genuinely encouraging. As the institute looks ahead to Project 2030, that same principle continues to guide its growth: practical experience is not an extra — it is equally as important as theory, and it is what turns a curious student into a confident digital creator.
Our Vision
Rather than teaching purely toward an exam, SICTA aims to prepare students for the technologies of tomorrow — building the curiosity and confidence they'll need long after they leave the classroom.
Our Mission
That means keeping fees accessible, classes practical and content current — so every student, regardless of background, has a genuine opportunity to build digital skills and creative confidence.

Why SICTA is Different
Every student gets hands-on time at a real computer during class, not just a demonstration at the front of the room.
Alongside the government syllabus, students are introduced to practical skills and modern tools that a school timetable simply doesn't have room for.
Students get to experience real online learning and research using the institute's own internet facilities.
Professionally prepared printed notes are provided for every lesson, so students spend class time learning instead of copying.
Projector-based lessons and interactive classroom activities keep every session engaging and easy to follow.
Students get hands-on exposure to robotics and modern hardware, going beyond the standard software-only classroom.
A comfortable, well-organised classroom designed to help students focus and enjoy every lesson.
Quality ICT education kept genuinely affordable for local families.
Meet Our Founder
Founder · ICT Educator · Technology Enthusiast
Sameera Dasanayake was born and raised in Divulapitiya, and his connection to technology education began close to home. In 2018 he started teaching ICT, working with school students, certificate-level learners and diploma-level classes alike — an experience that gave him a close, practical understanding of how differently people learn, and what genuinely helps them succeed.
Alongside his teaching, Sameera completed a Diploma in Web Development and a number of computer-related professional courses, and he continues to update his own knowledge as technology evolves. In February 2021, that combination of classroom experience and technical grounding led him to establish SICTA in Divulapitiya — built around the idea that ICT education should be practical first, with students learning through direct hands-on use of computers rather than through theory alone.
Today, Sameera continues to teach at SICTA personally, staying closely involved in every class and every student's progress. His approach is shaped by a simple, ongoing belief: that technology is best understood by using it, and that a good teacher never stops learning either.
“The future belongs to those who learn, create and never stop exploring technology.”
